Course Overview
This workshop provides hands-on guidance on the Islamic cleansing ritual known as sertu (also referred to as samak)—a purification process required when items or surfaces come into contact with najis mughallazah (severe impurities such as pigs or dogs). Participants will learn the theoretical background and practical steps based on Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), in line with JAKIM guidelines.
Course Objectives
Understand the concept and significance of sertu in Islam
Identify the types of impurities requiring sertu
Follow the correct cleansing method involving clay/soil and water
Apply the sertu method correctly in real-life situations
Comply with Halal requirements for premises, utensils, and equipment
